View our range of beautifully handcrafted prehnite (cape emerald) gemstone jewellery.

Soft yellow-green to apple-green in color. It being the very first mineral ever named after a person, its discoverer, Col. Hendrik von Prehn (1733), a mineralogist and early governor of the Cape. It was also the very first mineral to be named and described from RSA long before RSA became an important source for precious gems. Until recently it was a rare gemstone, but new deposits have made it more available. While you are unlikely to find it in your local jewelry store, gemstone dealers often have some supply. Deposits found in RSA, Australia, China, Scotland and the United States.
