AMBER is the fossilized tree resin of now-extinct conifer trees and ancient pines. Resin hardened and became preserved in the earth's crust for millions of years. Amber range in color from dark brown to a light almost clear lemon yellow. It is often imitated but real amber is much harder than other resins (it doesn't crumble as easily). It can usually be distinguished from plastics and glasses by its inclusions and its ability to float in salt water.
