LAPIS LAZULI - It is a deep blue stone with inclusions that twinkle like stars. The name is a combination of the Latin word lapis ("stone") and the Arabian name azul, meaning "blue." It was treasured by ancient Babylonian and Egyptian civilizations and often worn by royalty. It was believed to be a sacred stone, buried with the dead to protect and guide them in the afterlife.
