MALACHITE - It has light and dark green banded areas. It comes from the Greek word, malache, meaning "mallow". It refers to the green coloured leaf of the herb. In Greek mythology, the throne of Demeter, goddess of grain and harvest, was fashioned from malachite and adorned with golden pigs and ears of barley.
